At the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai the Netherlands will not only present the exciting Dutch pavilion designed by John Körmeling, but also a beautiful culture centre in the heart of the city. From March to September 2010, the Dutch Culture Centre will host a series of promising performances, exhibitions and presentations by many Dutch and Chinese cultural organisations. If you are interested in participating, you can now check the requirements and submit your plans.

Julidans presents Chinese dance

Julidans, the annual summer festival for international contemporary dance in Amsterdam, presents a Chinese programme in 2009. On 10 and 11 July, the Living Dance Studio will show two versions of Memory, a performance that recollects a childhood spent in the turmoil of the Cultural Revolution during the Mao era. For the annual Artist’ Lab (6 – 9 July), young Chinese dance maker Li Jianjun has been invited to participate. The results of this Artist’ Lab will be presented at the 2010 Julidans festival.

Master classes in Beijing introduce dance from The Netherlands

The Netherlands China Arts Foundation asked Dutch cultural organisation Borneoco / CultureXpress to realise a large scale programme of contemporary dance in China in 2009. As part of this programme, Dutch choreographers Katie Duck, Leine & Roebana, Emio Greco|PC and Tom Koch will teach master classes at the summer school of the Beijing Normal University from 17 to 29 August. Professional dancers from all over China are invited to attend. The programme will also feature lectures by choreographers, Dutch dance films of the Cinedans festival and the performance One & Two by Emio Greco | PC.

City One Minutes

| |
City One Minutes contains a series of portraits of cities around the world. From May 2009, Dutch artists together with art students of different Chinese academies will produce one minute city portraits of Beijing, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taipei and Xiamen. Check out these and other video portraits on the website www.cityoneminutes.org. A total of sixty world city portraits will be included in the City One Minutes exhibition at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.

From Berlage to Koolhaas |

From 15 May to 15 June, the Chinese audience could experience Dutch architecture at the exhibition From Berlage to Koolhaas, A Hundred Years of Dutch Architecture at the museum of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. The exhibition showed models of the cornerstones of the 20st century Dutch architecture.
